Michael is a native of Rhode Island and an ocean lover. Growing up at the water’s edge and living on a secluded beach of the Ocean State. Michael’s mindset and passion for the beach have always drawn him back to the coast. While serving in the military, Michael settled in VA, where he stayed for 38 years and retired to Southport in 2020, where he began his real estate career.
Michael has two homes, his childhood home along the beaches of Rhode Island, the “cold home”, and the “warm home”, Southport!
The Journey to Coastal Carolina. Michael’s sister accidentally found Bald Head Island in 2003 after looking for a vacation home along the Outer Banks for 15 years. It is the family joke that his sister got on the wrong ferry, and the natural beauty and undeveloped nature of Bald Head Island was found. A lot was purchased, a home was built, and hundreds of memories began. Michael’s daughter, nieces, and grandnieces all spent their free time growing up on the island. Corn was shucked, golf carts were designed for the July 4th parade, trees were climbed, surf was surfed, bicycles were ridden, fireworks were watched, along with many moonrises and sunsets, while each evening, neighborhood friends would gather to share cooking, a glass of wine, and walks along the beach. The slap of a screen door, the laughter of children, the flow of the Milky Way, and a turtle nest bursting with scampering sea turtles is the ebb and flow of the island.
For 18 years, Michael spent approximately one week a month on BHI learning all the island stories, the island's nooks and crannies, and during Covid, he lived full-time on Bald Head Island.
After retiring from a career in airport administration, Michael moved to Southport and began his real estate career. Michael had a lengthy career working in a complex aviation environment governed by intricate laws, and his focus on administrative details equipped him for the challenges of real estate transactions in a maritime setting. Michael specializes in island and coastal properties, where his knowledge of the unique aspects of coastal living and coastal regulations adds to his expertise, making him a valuable resource for his clients. Michael’s passion for the area's distinctive culture, his appreciation for the people, history, and food, drives him to share that joy with others, ensuring that the real estate transition is smooth and stress-free.
Outside of real estate, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, and hobbies include riding the back roads on his bicycle, kayaking the salt ponds and marshes, and digging for clams so he can cook. Michael is never without his dog, a rescue English Setter named Hope.
In closing, Michael is committed to serving the real estate needs of his clients, leveraging his vast experience, local expertise, and passion for helping. Michael’s mantra to all rest and breathe, let me do the work; it is now turtle time.
